We are excited to announce the completion of another series of bird observations at Utilitas Wind’s Saare-Liivi Offshore Wind Farm. Over 46 days, from April to May, our team conducted these extensive surveys from the offshore survey vessel Hydrograf. Bird observations play a crucial role in ensuring the environmental sustainability of wind farm projects.

The Saare-Liivi Offshore Wind Farm, strategically located in the Baltic Sea, spans approximately 307 km². In the first stage of development, Utilitas Wind plans to install 80 wind turbines. Together, these turbines will generate a combined capacity of 1,200 MW. Utilitas aims to have this initial phase operational by 2028.

The survey was carried out in cooperation with our good German partners O.S Energy and BioConsult SH. Their expertise in marine and avian ecology has ensured our survey methods are rigorous and that the data collected is both accurate and useful. This partnership highlights our commitment to providing reliable and scientific bird observations for offshore wind farm developers.

As the offshore wind sector continues to grow, we recognize the increasing importance of understanding its impact on bird species. By collaborating with leading environmental scientists, we ensure that the outcomes of the bird observations for the Saare-Liivi offshore wind farm set a high standard for environmental studies.

Looking to the future, we are fully committed to providing wind farm developers with studies conducted in accordance with best practices and international standards. It is essential that environmental studies are carried out impartially to ensure the credibility of the studies’ results. In this way, we increase the sustainability of our environment.
