We consider this decision as one of the biggest reforms in Estonian Maritime sector!

A very strong final presentation by the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Riina Sikkut which led to the decision making by the Estonian Government Stenbocki maja with Kaja Kallas leading the way!
It has been a challenging project to build up a solution that takes into account so many different aspects!
Forming of the State Fleet Agency means that all aspects of technical management activities related to vessels currently belonging to the Police and Border Guard Board, Estonian Pilot, Transport Administration, Environmental Board and Rescue Board will be taken over by the new central unit. In addition to traditional ship management services the State Fleet Agency will start to provide pilotage service and maintain floating aids to navigation in Estonian waters.
The Agency will have the capability to provide vessel management services also to the local universities and scientific institutions. Technical management and development of government owned ferries is also one of the aims.
A lot of work lies still ahead but we wish all parties involved a strong-minded and professional approach!
